Slanderous web site

Sorry if this is a bit long winded. Since 1988 i have run a small
company selling car accessories and i am extremely proud of my
customer relations and my 100% positive Ebay feedback. The problem is
that if you Google my company name, a site comes up 3rd one down of
first page, calling me a Skanky Bastard and also a scam artist etc
etc. As far as i know he is not a customer of mine as on his main site
he rants about many things, but except for 3 companies, he does not
mention names, only product types. I have emailed him twice, politely,
and on the second time, he altered the web address, so now you can not
see the main site. I do not want to put site on here as maybe lots of
people will go on it. It is called """"""""isascam.selfip/""""""""".
I have never scammed anyone in my life and i find it upsetting, plus i
am sure i have lost lots of business over this. I am at my wits end
about what to do. I now have his address, but not sure if its his real
name. Soliciters are expensive and i don't think threatening him with
legal action will do much good. Google and his ISP providers dont want
to do anything.
I am desperate, how can i get his page of off Google search engines or
at least down to the 2nd or 3rd page.
Please any help would be gratefully received.

If you plan writing this article and ask this question, I presume you expect to have several weeks of work using and experimenting with the resources you ask us to provide.

However, you should probably consider first digging thru the archive of tis newsgroup: there are lots of material in there that would probably cover all you need.

Which is better?

I tend to be very critical of websites that have misspellings
(unprofessional) and gaudy displays. Big clownish letters (like a

I would bet that you want in fact redirect the htm address to some php page...
You will need some .htaccess redirection to do that. Be very careful if you are not falmiliar with this
- Reference info is at http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/mod_rewrite.html but this is sometimes difficult to chew
- You will find at http://www.noupe.com/php/htaccess-techniques.html something easier to understand, although it does not directly tackles page rewriting
- http://www.askapache.com/htaccess/mod_rewrite-tips-and-tricks.html#default-mod-rewrite-hint provides more info and examples
- and to be complete the page http://www.sitepoint.com/print/apache-mod_rewrite-examples/ will be really helpful

If you wanted really to redirect a php page to an html file, you might consider 2 options:
1 - If in fact you just want to display the content of the htm file, simply place in your php file the following code
<?php
...
include "mission.htm"; // or include "mission.htm/veinlite-pedi.htm";
...?>
2 - Just place in your php code the following piece. YOU MUST NOT HAVE SENT ANY CHARACTER, including (very common trap) any space or empty line before <?php
<?php
...
header ('http://www.domainname.com/page.php?view=mission');
// code below will NOT execute

Final note:
Address rewriting is in fact 2 steps:
1 - Be sure that if someone call the smart-named url, they get the correct content on their display (ie, translate /mission to /index.php?view=mission)
2 - When generating links in your pages by your php (or other language) script, be sure to display the smart-named url, ie display /mission instead of /index.php?view=mission)

If you are using any CMS (content management system), wether it is a pure cms, a blog, a wiki,etc.. most of the time they have a "SEF" (search-engine-friendly) option, where they give you step by step instructions on how to to it (including htaccess)

Well i am not working now on keyword ranking. but my site is ranking Google local business on various keywords.. i have lot of tacks to get traffic and business from internet that why i did not feel any seo work on my site....

They have no impact on page rank in itself, but they DO HAVE an impact on traffic, bringing you visitors, presumably more relevant than what would bring a SE response page.
And getting qualified traffic means you are getting prospects... now you have to give them the info that will translate into direct or indirect revenue.

For me, I would suggest to integrate wordpress blog to get better exposure and better keywords as blogs tend to get better indexing power.. not SERPs necessarily.. content is the king.. so, put more original and unique content to get more visitors that will eventually convert into $$$.

I would prefer to have six speciliazed focused sites: each of them would have more "authority" in its specific area.
And of course each of the six specific site links to the main / generic / umbrella site, which in turn links to all the specific sites.
Therefore any power / authority gained by oone site will also profi the others.

Free Google Ranking Account

I am new to seo but willing to learn it all! Another webmaster told be
that one of the very first things I should do is to open a Free Google
Ranking Account. When I asked him what that is there was no reply. Can
anyone tell me what that is and where to find it? Thanks!

I wasn't very clear. I meant, is it theoretically better to have six
electronic websites (smartphones.com, tvs.com blu-ray.com,
computernotebooks.com) that each focus on a single product, or one
website that focuses on all six products (electronics.com).

Social bookmarks have little to no effect because most of them use nofollow.

GG will NOT index your site UNLESS it finds a link to some page of your site in one of the pages it already knows: that's why addiing your url to GG index is usually useless:
- if your site is not linked-to by some existing page, it will NOT be indexed by GG
- if your site is linked-to, then GG will discover it and index it

Once GG has indexed at least one page of your site, it will also:
- read your robots.txt, and if detect any sitemap indicated here if any
- read your sitemap if it knows about it: this might be from the indication in robots.txt, or from some action in GG webmasters' tools.

So, you can prepare your site for a good indexation, eg with the right robots>txt and the sitemap.
BUT THIS IS USELESS until you get some page to link to your site.

BTW, your mention of your site in this group.... has created a link to your site that GG will find when indexing this group... so THIS IS DONE, concentrate now on sitemaps!
