Google plans to Shutdown its operation in India

After experiencing series of cyber attacks, Google had decided to
shutdown its operations in China. The Chinese hackers have caused a
number of security threats for Google's Chinese search engine
Google.cn. Popular Chinese news channels and international news
channels have reported that Google had started redirecting Google.cn's
customers to the Hong Kong server Google.com.hk. But, Google runs the
risk of losing the revenue which it had reaped from the World's
biggest Internet market, China.

Re: Google Ad words campaign - Reg

Please check whether you have got the impressions for your ads. And you can check whether your ad is displaying in that specific country using Adpreview tool. https://adwords.google.com/select/AdTargetingPreviewTool .

Hope this will help you ..

Re: google update in dec 2009?

Hi,
This is an excerpt from WebProNews. This article gives possible explanations to the troubles of lots of online businesses. Google is constantly changing their algorithims, so it can affect keywords and all kinds of other factors of a business. This is just one explanation. Perhaps you might consider refreshing your keywords. I'm just relatively new to the business of online marketing myself so I'm certainly no guru. You are at least getting traffic, I on the other hand am not at this time. I have a lot more to do before I see any real results. Subscribe to WebPronews. They have a lot of good information that covers a wide variety of topics of interest. Lots of good knowledge base from informed people in all areas of business. Try different forums to get help. I'm sorry I can't help you more but I am just a beginner with a long way to go myself. Below is the excerpt that I was talking about. I highlighted the beginning with bold.

High rankings in Google search results are coveted by nearly all webmasters, but Google is constantly making changes to keep them on their toes. Actually, Google is said to make roughly one change per day.

One recent change in particular, however, has gotten some webmasters riled up. It's being referred to as "Mayday," and some claim it is costing them money.

Do you think the update has affected your revenue? Comment here.

Ex-Googler Vanessa Fox, who spoke on a panel with current Googler Matt Cutts at Google I/O last week, quotes Cutts as saying, "this is an algorithmic change in Google, looking for higher quality sites to surface for long tail queries. It went through vigorous testing and isn't going to be rolled back."

She also says Google told her that it was a rankings change, as opposed to a crawling/indexing change. This, she says, "seems to imply that sites getting less traffic still have their pages indexed, but some of those pages are no longer ranking as highly as before."

Vanessa Fox"This change seems to have primarily impacted very large sites with 'item' pages that don't have many individual links into them, might be several clicks from the home page, and may not have substantial unique and value-added content on them," says Fox. "For instance, ecommerce sites often have this structure. The individual product pages are unlikely to attract external links and the majority of the content may be imported from a manufacturer database. Of course, as with any change that results in a traffic hit for some sites, other sites experience the opposite."

She has more to say about it at Search Engine Land, offering some of her own speculation. One reader accuses the change of delivering "a real blow" to his revenue.

This is not the first we've heard about "Mayday". There's been discussion about it around the SEO community all month, but this is the first we've seen it really addressed by Google.

Most savvy webmasters have learned by now that they can't rely on Google rankings alone to drive traffic. This is why social media opportunities presented by networks like Facebook and Twitter have become so attractive. The way people search and obtain information is becoming more and more diversified, not only spread out around different applications (largely due to increased mobile usage), but also within search engines themselves.

For example, Google recently rolled out its big SERP redesign, which gives users a great deal more options for filtering their results (or at least puts these options in the spotlight). The importance of ranking in a completely natural, organic search has become greatly diluted over time. Don't get me wrong, it's still nice, but it's getting harder to rely on as well as less critical for discovery.

Stay tuned to WebProNews for our exclusive interviews with both Cutts and Fox from Google I/O, in which they talk with our own Abby Johnson about a variety of search-related topics. They should be posted soon.

Re: Google Ad words campaign - Reg

try with reverse keywords and hittail longtail analysis, you have to improve your quality score and ponting to a more specific market

Re: Google Ad words campaign - Reg

hi :)
i hope i have understood well you problem.
in my opinion you have to start with more specific keywords groups,
because it could happens that you are pointing to a competitive
market, and it needs a huge ppc cost.

so check out these two resources:
* https://adwords.google.com/support/aw/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=63235
- reverse keywords, i think you have to dig a bit more in keywords and
keyphrases to match the exact and cheaper combinations
* HitTail.com - it is a long-tail keywords tool, and you can subscribe
for free. it is very important to discover some long tail and low
traffic (but really useful) keywords and keyphrases to include into
your ppc adwords campaign.

i hope my suggestion are useful to you, and i did not misunderstood
your problem :)

Re: Google Ad words campaign - Reg

hi,
in my opinion you have to consider some more specific and less-
competitive keywords in the beggining.
It could be that you are pointing to a market you cannot afford for,
or you have econtered some troubles with quality score.

if my analysis is right for your problem, i'll sugest you to consider
reverse keywords (https://adwords.google.com/support/aw/bin/answer.py?
hl=en&answer=63235
) and analyzing your organic long tail keywords. You
can use HitTail for free and just staring from there.

i hope these suggestions will help :)

Re: Google Webmaster Tools ignoring keywords??

Sanjeev
Although submitting a sitemap is always a god idea, this by itself would probably cause just a marginal improvement.
What is at stake is not the pages referenced, but their content.

Submitting a sitemap to BYG (Bing Yahoo Google) thru their webmasters tools is always a good idea.
Remember however to ALSO change your robots.txt so that it includes a link toward the sitemap: then, most spiders will me made aware of these maps and follow the links they contain

Why would that be? It seems to be crawling everything correctly.

Why would that be? It seems to be crawling everything correctly.

Re: Google Webmaster Tools ignoring keywords??

the keywords the WMT list are those used to reach your site.
If your target keywords do not appear there it, you need to:
1 - check where your pages appear when you are googling for the keyword. if they are not visible, no wonder that nobody comes to you with these keywords
2 - If some of your pages appear in the first 10-20 results... check at the text snippet that displays... is it relevant? is it attractive?

Looking back in WMT at the keywords that bring you traffic: are they relevant and coherent with your content? if yes, you might consider developing more on these keywords where competitions is probably softer.

For your preferred keywords, if they do not show in the fist 20 results: remember that there are lots of competitors for these 20 seats...

Google Webmaster Tools ignoring keywords??

I have Webmaster tools setup. But a couple of my largest keywords
(which I tried to use on every single page) aren't even showing up as
keywords. And some of the other prominent keywords appear to show up
quite a few times less than are actually on the website.

Why would that be? It seems to be crawling everything correctly.
