301 Moved Permanently error

I've been watching my Google Webmasters tools recently and have noticed 301 Moved Permanently error for non existent URL instead of showing 404 error. The page is displaying 404 page but in WMT its 301 Moved Permanently and nothing is mentioned in .htaccess file. What should be done? Please suggest

Hello,

Our webiste www.forsalebyowner.com.au ranks for the keyphrase "For Sale By owner' and nothing else. No other keywords, no variations of this - absolutely nothing.

Last year e had some sort of negative SEO campaign done against us, without 300,000 backlinks created with keywords "Sell My House". We dropped out of Google at that time. Since then most of these links have disappeared, and we also added a lot of them to our disavow file.

Basically, if I copy and paste unique text from our website into Google, we come up last if we come up at all. If I search for keyphrases relating to our services or website, flower shops in Portugal come up on 70, but we are nowhere to be found.

We are not ranking for anything at all, apart from main keyphrase mentioned.

Since we have no manual penalty, I thought maybe we had baad coding which was leading to an algorithmic penalty, but can't find any problems.

Would be extremely grateful if any has any suggestions as to why we are performing so badly, and essentially have no organic presence whatsoever.

Thanks in advance!

Re: new script --> new urls --> what to do with 301

no you cant do that

Hello,

I recently installed a new script on a domain i run. Together with this script comes a lot of new media/material.
The old script i have been using for 6 years had this url structure --> http://www.domain.com/entry/19067/title-of-entry

The "problem" is that the new script will have a bunch of random id numbers, probably different then the old script.

To be clear, all old material related to the old script will be deleted.
To stick with the example i provided. When i would 301 this http://www.domain.com/entry/19067/title-of-entry   to  http://www.domain.com/video/title-of-entry-19067.html there are 2 things that can happen.

there is no such id (19067) or there is such an id but with different material then what it was before (so also a new title, description etc)

I think its a pain in the ass to configure this properly so i'm gonna ask you guys/girls if its allowed to just 301 ALL URLS FROM OLD SCRIPT to be redirected to homepage.

cheers!

Re: How can you remove Google's incorrectly guessed published date?

We have no idea where Google is pulling the date from. The page in question was created well after 2005, and the video in the page was created in 2011. The page is also updated regularly to keep up with tax information. The date June 22, 2005 does not appear on the page. I have created a script that ran through all the numbers on the page to see if Google was mashing numbers together to pull out a Unix timestamp, but this was not the case either. I have also looked into other sites linking to us, and have still not found this date.

Is there any way to keep the image in our Google snippet, while removing the date? Would it be better to just provide Google with a date, given that the information itself does not get updated often? Any help would be appreciated.

RE: Help Cannot seem to recover

I would highly advise a revamp of your onsite coding..I see tables in there and even font element!!

Use pure css coding and it will make your site faster which is an seo factor.

Add more relevant content in the appropriate tags, h1 for headers, p for content, and clean up your page, remove the inline css block and put the css into a stylesheet, and same with the js if you can.

Now google is showing that new website on Ist Page and my website is removed totally from all 1000 results.

So I think it's an error in google search engine  or something else...
question: if one website is same as previous and It can harm the Ist then anybody can harm any website by coping it's competetors website.
2. If someone has copied all website of mine then It should come under 1000 rank but it is fully removed from the search.

Please help me if someone have any idea about this
