Re: Website Crawling Issue

if you are using free sitemap services then probably the chances is that they didn't create all pages of you website, try to create ur sitemap by ur own...

3 - Most serious spiders/ search engines are now using the sitemap.
Although submitting your sitemaps to GYM (Google, Yahoo, Microsoft/
Bing) is an easy step and should be done at least once, you need to
simply place a permanent link to your map (or metamap) in your
robots.txt: place a line such as

Sitemap: http://mysite.com/sitemap.xml
(note that the URL must be complete with http://)
This line must be present only once, so if you have several maps you
should make this line point to your "metamap"
Placing this permanent link ensures that main robots will regularly
reload your sitemaps, even if you have made no recent submission

Re: Indexing new posts in my forum

Hello..
Google indexed each page or content very quickly, all you have to do is wait.. Thats the only way I can say in that matter..coz I witness in one of our site..we have an old site that Google already indexed, and when I edited all the content in pages of that site, after a few days I saw the new content in Google, so it is the same as your forum...

Re: Indexing new posts in my forum

GG will index your site with a frequency based on what it thinks is needed. You must give it some time to discover that your forum has frequently new content.
Consider using 2 sitemaps:
- one with "constant content", ie pages older that 1 month
- one with "recent content",
both of them being pointed to by a "metamap".

Re: Can anyone tells me why the indexed number in the google webmaster tools drops sometimes?

Seems Google does not like your content, or more precisely that it
finds it less likeable over time. If your site is not regularly
updated, then probably its entire value will lose value overt time.

Re: Risk in Personal Profile - Social Networks

- The internet is full of normal smart people, including your real
friends. For them, seeing your real picture (or some recognizable
transformed picture) is fine and useful, as well as other personal
information
- The internet is also full of scammers, some of them working on
identity theft or visiting your home when you have publicly stated
that you are away for 2 weeks while hinting that you have worthwhile
belongings.

So you MUST use your personal wisdom to decide which personal
information you put on the internet. DO NOT assume that the
"guaranteed privacy" offered by sites (eg FaceBook) will always work:
there might be some error in the privacy management or in security
which might suddenly make available all of your information...

And never, never, never put on ANY site information that you would not
want your boss or mother to see...

===> since however Google or others might find pieces of information
you have left behind you (check with http://www.123people.com, you
will have some surprises!), you should also have a PROACTIVE
communication strategy, ie make public some photos and information:
they will be useful to "dampen" and unwanted new information, not
hiding them but pushing them down in the lists...

Re: google not index my website clearly

Problems with keywords is that everybody wants to be on top for their
keywords. Since there are only 3 slots in the topmost 3 positions...
lots of people will not be in the top 3.

If you are on a highly competitive keyword, your path to the top 3 is
going to be long, or even impossible. It will need time and efforts,
and probably some additional money...

A wiser approach would be to find relevant but less competitive
keywords, and work in improving positions for this more reachable
goal.

So you need to leave time to search engines so that:
- they can take notice of your pages
- they can observe that your site will live longer than just some
weeks
- they can explore if there are links from other sites to your site:
if these links come from reputable sites, there are chances that your
site merits some reputation.

Patience is one of the most needed qualities in SEO... once you are
sure that some pages of your site are indexed by one search engine,
and that you are sure that from this page all pages of your site can
be reached... you can just wait for the spider to explore all your
pages and to index which pages they will find relevant...

Re: Website Crawling Issue

Anita,

1 - The sitemaps are just some accelerators/ facilitators for the
robots to spider your site. Then your pages are seen by the spiders
does not guarantee however that they will all be indexed: each search
engine will index them "as usually", ie as if they have discovered
them directly. Whether they index the page or not, and how they rank

2 - Sitemaps are highly useful though, most specially if your internal

If your site is highly dynamic, you might consider having several
sitemaps: one for "permanent" pages, the main structure; and one or
several for the "dynamic pages", eg automatically generated, news,
etc.
You would then use a "metamap" which would point to these different
maps

Google Analytics - Goals Tracking

I am trying to track 3 different forms through the use of goals.

The first two are working correctly, but the third one is not. The
two goal conversions show up with all the correct data, but the third
one shows zero.

For the third goal, I cannot find data, but I see a field in Content
Detail called /forms/quickquotes.asp I have a feeling the data I'm
looking for is in here, although the traffic on it seems incredibly
high (and I'm thinking it may be collecting other data).

My question, I'm not sure what that content detail (/forms/
quickquotes.asp) is called, why the data is showing up here, and how
do I get it into my goals?

Re: Website Crawling Issue

That kind of doesn't really explain anything about the problem some
more information would be useful.

The problem with the automated updates is if you run through the xml
they say all the pages are top priority and have all been updated.
Problem is if your xml spreadsheet isn't reliable Google will ignore
it.

My advice is run a report and change all the update dates to way back
in the past - like a year - and then all the pages you want indexed
change the dates to the actual dates you changed them on. Then
Google will look at your sitemap and when it checks the pages you say
have been changed it will find out your not lying.

Multiple domain names and duplicate content, what's best option?

Hi All,
Am trying to determine how best to use optimized domain names in
conjunction with my main website. As I understand it, I have 3
options:
1. register optimized domain names and use 301 direct to point to
existing site.
a) Is there any benefit to having optimized domain names when doing
this?

2. register optimized domain names and use existing site template to
create "mini-sites" promoting services related to the domain name
keywords, migrate relevant content from existing main site and edit it
so don't get labeled as "duplicate content".
a) This option is a lot of work, will it give me the most SEO bang for
my buck??

3. register optimized domain names and use existing site template to
create blogs, migrate relevant content from existing site to each
blog.
a) My understanding is that I would not have to edit the content on
the blog as Google does not check blogs for "duplicate content". Is
this true?
b) Is this only true for blogs created in Blogspot or Wordpress?
c) Would it also apply to Drupal blogs???

I would really appreciate feedback on this. I have bits and pieces of
information but can't get a comprehensive picture of my options.

Thanks

Duplicate Content - Let's review all the options shall we

HI All,

Our company sells a variety of services (as do many) and we are
looking for ways to promote individual services in addition to
promoting our whole suite of services using our main company website.

There are several relevant domain names available containing the major
keywords for the services we wish to promote, for
example: .....websitedesign.com, .....SEO.com, .......graphicdesign.com.

How do we make the best use of additional optimized domain names?
1. simply grab up the optimized domain names and use 301 direct to go
to appropriate pages on the existing company site.

2. register the optimized domain names, use our existing site template
to create a new site and migrate the appropriate text to the new site
(graphic design text to the .......graphicdesign.com site etc.) then
edit the text so it is not recognizable as "duplicate content".

3. register the optimized domain names and create individual blogs for
each then migrate the appropriate text to each new blog, no text
editing required becaus - .
- I understand that Google will not deem text in blogs created in
WordPress or Blogspot as duplicate content, is this correct?
- What about Drupal blogs, do they have the same "duplicate content"
immunity?

Look forward to your reply with great interest.
