Re: remove site from google search indexes

Nicky,

It all depends how "secret" you want the new site to be.
- Using robots.txt can be usefully completed by placing in the <head>...</head> part of each page a metatag
<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW">

- Note however that NONE of these action totally guarantees that the page wll not be indexed (nor accessed by some curious people).

- If you really want this site to stay hidden, I would suggest that you place some password connections scheme, eg with htaccess, see http://httpd.apache.org/docs/1.3/howto/htaccess.html#auth
(ignore the first sentence which suggests to change Apache config)

A new site I am designing has started to appear in searches, along

How can I tell the crawlers to ignore the new, unreleased website?
And how can I get the website-in-progress to drop out of Google's
current index?
