Re: Measuring the Quality of backlinks

a rough proxy for link quality would probably be the page rank of the page that links to you... divided by the number of outgoing links present in that page

Having put hundreds of hours creating my website (still working on
it). I have now gone into phase two where I am linking it to relevant
content through every platform I can find.

When I look at my competitors, I find that some have a higher keyword
ranking than others, with less backlinks, even though as a website
they have the same PR and are roughly the same size.

I can only put this down to the quality of backlink, which I keep
hearing people refer to. So my question is: How can I measure the
quality of backlink that I am getting from various sources?
