Re: Is it important to put www in the site address

Having www or not is slightly confusing for search engines: they have
to spider and index twice as many pages, and if they give some credit
to your content this credit will be shared between all the "duplicate
content" pages.

That does not prevent you to communicate to humans with and/or without
the www

BUT you should make a choice and decide which one will be the most
used for your SEO work. Then put in place 301 redirects to the (s)
elected pages, this will ensure that:
- whether a visitor, human or robot, comes to the "other" page it will
be redirected to the selected one
- whatever reputation/ ranking was attached to your non-elected page,
it will be transferred to the elected page

Note that with Google Webmasters' toolls you can indicate if with or
without www should be the preferred page... but that does not prevent
you to wotk with your htaccess to make automated bredirects.

To summarize: it takes 10 minutes work, so do it at once!
